UNIVERSAL BUTT WEIGHT INSERTS

The Golfmechanix Universal Butt weighing Insert is designed to work with both steel and

graphite shafts. The inner diameter of the insert accommodates industry standard seven of

the 9-gram hosel weights which will bring the counter-balance insert’s weight up to 70

grams.

In addition, lead powder can be poured into the insert to increase its counter-balance

weight. If lead powder is used the vent hole at the bottom of the insert must be plugged.

To install the Universal Butt Insert into a steel shaft slide the entire unit until its flange sits

flush against the shaft butt. With the insert sealed shut to keep the weight in place the club

is now ready to be gripped. However if the insert has a loose fit within the shaft’s butt,

adding tape to the outside diameter of the insert will provide a snug fit to keep in securely

in place once installed.

While some graphite shafts will accommodate the insert without any alterations, it

will be likely that the outside diameter of the insert will have to be turned down to

fit in the graphite shaft’s butt. The exterior ribs of the Universal Butt Weighting

Insert have been designed to easily sand down so tighter shaft I.D. fits are easily

accomplished, whether done by hand with a knife blade or sandpaper, or by

machine such as a belt grinder.

The most important aspect of adding weight to the counterbalance insert

is to ensure that the weighted material is packed tightly enough into the

insert to prevent any rattling. Epoxying the hosel weights into place will

prevent unwanted noise while packing lead powder or tungsten to the

brim will ensure a solid installation.
