The Groove Scan Casting kit manufactured by Golfmechanix is based on the original kit designed and engineered by

the USGA for casting a mirror image of the club-head groove in a two step process. The cast is then sliced and the

profile scanned at high resolution. The image created is then analysed by the USGA conformance software.

The Golfmechanix Groove scan casting kit comprises a two stage, smooth acting precision guillotine which holds the

casting in place as it slices through the sample, producing clean cut edges. This reduces the possibility of the software

rejecting a grove profile with rough, jagged edge as a non conforming specimen.

The precisely dimensioned and machined dams are also based on the USGA blue print and have been further

improved by the addition of powerful rare earth magnets, which retain the dams against the club-head face (mainly

irons) when the resin is injected and left to cure.

Locator pins have also been added to the dams so that they are easy to align

square to the grooves. This feature also minimizes the incidence of the software

to rejecting a groove as non conforming.
